The Savannah Buccaneers are thrilled to announce the hiring of Samir W. St. Clair II as the new head coach. With a stellar career spanning continents, Coach St. Clair brings a wealth of experience, proven leadership, and a championship pedigree to the Buccaneers' bench.
Coach St. Clair's resume is a testament to his ability to transform teams and develop players. Most recently, he led Al Bashaer Club in Oman to both the Oman Basketball League Championship and Cup in the 2023-2024 season. His track record of success extends globally, having coached in Europe, Japan, the Middle East, and Mexico, with significant achievements at every stop.
Highlights of Coach St. Clair’s Career:
Guided the Saitama Broncos (Japan) from a 5-47 record to their first winning season in nearly a decade, culminating in a 34-28 finish.
Led Drew Charter School (Georgia) to a state championship in 2022 with a remarkable 56-2 record over two years, earning him Georgia Coach of the Year honors.
Directed Al Nasr Club (UAE) to a deep run in the UAE Professional President’s Cup and mentored NBA talent, including Eric Griffin.
Coached multiple professional and collegiate teams to championship appearances and winning seasons, solidifying his reputation as a team builder and offensive specialist.
In addition to his on-court achievements, Coach St. Clair is renowned for his player development expertise. His mentorship has helped athletes lead their leagues in scoring and earn accolades such as Rookie of the Year and All-League honors.

Off the court, Coach St. Clair is a committed family man. He holds a degree in Political Science from Hampton University and credits his ability to connect with players to his deep understanding of people and culture. His wife, Jamila, and their two daughters, Samreen and Safreen, are proud supporters of his coaching journey.
