About the Role
The Savannah Buccaneers are seeking an experienced and visionary Head Coach to lead our professional basketball team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the game, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to player development. As Head Coach, you will be responsible for all aspects of team performance, strategy, and culture, guiding the team to success on and off the court.
Qualifications:
-Proven experience as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach at the professional, collegiate, or high-level amateur level.
-Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
-Expertise in basketball strategy, player development, and game management.
-Ability to develop and maintain a positive team culture that promotes hard work, accountability, and respect.
-Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
-Strong knowledge of basketball rules, regulations, and trends.
-Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make strategic decisions during games.
-Experience in working with diverse athletes and fostering an inclusive environment.
-Availability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required.
Requirements
Team Leadership & Culture: Instill a positive, competitive, and disciplined culture within the team. Provide leadership, motivation, and direction to players and staff, ensuring all team members adhere to the values and standards of the Savannah Buccaneers.
Player Development: Oversee individual and team player development. Create personalized training plans to enhance the skills, fitness, and basketball IQ of each player. Work closely with assistant coaches and trainers to ensure players are reaching their full potential.
Game Strategy & Preparation: Develop and implement effective game strategies, playbooks, and scouting reports tailored to the team’s strengths and the opponents’ weaknesses. Conduct pre-game preparations, including film study, scouting, and game planning.
Practice Management: Plan and lead structured and effective practices to prepare the team for competition. Ensure a focus on skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and game preparation.
Performance Evaluation: Regularly evaluate player and team performance, providing constructive feedback and coaching to improve individual and collective results.
Game Day Responsibilities: Lead the team in all game-day activities, including warm-ups, team meetings, and post-game reviews. Ensure the team is mentally and physically prepared for each game.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Coach, trainers, medical staff, and other assistant coaches to align the team’s goals with the organization’s overall vision. Foster an environment of collaboration and communication within the team.
